The so called »species on the Red list« deserve special attention among the plants. According to this list of endangered fern and seed plant species (Wraber & Skoberne, 1989), there are 7 such plant species in Kozjanski Park. According to the Regulation on placing the endangered plant and animal species on the Red List (The Official Gazette No. 82/02), there are more than 70 such species in Kozjanski Park. Numerous species have been described for the first time on the basis of research done in Kozjanski Park (Jogan, 1995). Orchis palustris, Moehgrinia bavarica,  Lilium carniolicum Bernh, Cypripedium calceolus, Trifolium pannonicum and Typha schuttleworthii present outstanding interconnections among various habitat and vegetation types. Beside the prevailing calciphile species, the ones growing on silicates can also be found in the park (Sillene gallica L.). Growth conditions vary from place to place, from shady and humid to sunny and dry.

Extensive research has recently yielded various botanical findings, such as the relative frequency of Iris graminea and of numerous species from Orhidaceae family. There are more than 40 species belonging to this family in Kozjanski Park. Beside the species mentioned above, there are also numerous other botanical pearls that the park prides upon - Daphne blagayana Freyer, Ranunculus thora pseudoscutatus, Gentiana clusii, Gentiana tergestina, ruscus hypoglossum, Ruscus aculeatus L, Eranthis hyemalis (growing next to the Park's Administration Centre), Senecio doria, Bromus pannonicus, Epilobium ciliatum (E. adenocaulon), Brachypodium pinnatum, Pulsatilla nigricans Stoerck, Hottonia palustris, Primula auricula, Scabiosa hladnikiana. The association of high dry grasslands - Bromo-Plantaginetum mediae is rich in species and especially worth mentioning, since it is mainly found in Slovenia in the area of Kozjanski Park (Škornik, 1998).
