The Kozjansko Regional Park is one of the oldest and largest protected areas in Slovenia.<\/p>

It is located at the junction of the Alpine and Pannonian worlds in eastern Slovenia, between the Sotla River and Bohor. It is an approximately 30-minute drive from the motorway \u2013 from the north (the Ljubljana\u2013Maribor motorway, exit at Dramlje) as well as from the south (the Ljubljana\u2013Novo mesto motorway, exit at Kr\u0161ko or Bre\u017eice).<\/p>

The protected area covers 206km\u00b2, has the status of a regional park, and spreads over five municipalities: Kozje, Bistrica ob Sotli, Pod\u010detrtek, Bre\u017eice, and Kr\u0161ko.<\/p>

Kozjansko Park is recognisable for its still-preserved tall-stemmed meadow orchards, hill dry meadows, beech forests, and wet meadows along the Sotla River.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The park boasts exceptional biodiversity, which is why most of it is classified as a Natura 2000 site. Since 2010, the Kozjansko and Obsotelje area has been a UNESCO-protected biosphere area. In 2021, Kozjansko Park was the first park in Slovenia to receive the Melina Mercouri International Prize, which is awarded under the auspices of UNESCO in the field of protection and management of cultural landscapes.<\/p>

In the field of cultural heritage, Kozjansko Park is also a landscape of utmost diversity. Podsreda Castle and many other mighty castles, churches, medieval market towns, archaeological sites, and the heritage of everyday life stir the imagination and call for exploration.<\/p>

With its varied landscape, Kozjansko Park is interesting to visitors in all seasons. In spring, flowering avenues, orchards and meadows beckon, in summer, numerous park activities and events attract visitors, in autumn, the traditional Kozjansko Apple Festival is known wide and far, and in winter, there is peace of unspoilt nature.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
