The Frog Homestead (Žabja domačija) is located in the heart of the Kozjansko Regional Park, in the village of Trebče on the road from Podsreda or Kozje to Bistrica ob Sotli. It is housed on the Kolar Farm, which lies right next to the Trebče pond.
In a wooden cottage with a thatched roof, an interactive exhibition will teach you many interesting facts about amphibians, a group of animals that is often overlooked and little known. If you take a walk along the nature trail around the Trebče pond, you’ll be able to see and hear the amphibians in person during this time. Their spring migration to their breeding grounds is currently underway, and the pond is already teeming with life.
You’ll also be able to see the underpasses and permanent safety fences for amphibians that were installed on this road section last year, allowing amphibians in this area to safely cross the road on their own for the first time this year.
The Frog Homestead also offers:
- guided tours of the exhibition and nature trail for pre-registered groups,
- presentations on amphibian conservation measures in the Kozjansko Regional Park,
- organization of lectures, nature days, and workshops, …
We are available at Trebče 47, 3256 Bistrica ob Sotli, Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For groups with prior notice, we will also open our doors outside of regular business hours, on weekends, and on holidays.
